F.E.S.

Now it's Finn's turn. Maybe it's because he's older, but Finn is a little more difficult to peg! He's definately my compassionate one (like his namesake... i could even foresee him fleeing society as well one day!). Finn is an inquisitor. It's almost as though he struggles to decide which question he should ask first on a subject, and nearly stutters over it because he so desperately wants to be sure you'll answer the next one.

He's always got some sort of "project" (as he calls them) going. I never know what kind of concoction (and mess) i'll find when I return from getting T down for a nap. At the very least, I can be sure to find a pile of seeds spread out to dry on the table because he's really into "saving seeds" to plant next season. I love this, but it's also what can, at times, drive me crazy! I hope that I can truly embrace these things about him so that he continues to ask hard questions and really love and enjoy the process of learning, not merely the end results. In the second to last picture, I think he's actually trying to make notes in his head about the chocolate croussante so that he can make one when he gets home!

But one of the most beautiful things so far, is watching Finn's love for his little brother. He lights up when he watches T being silly or singing, or trying to talk. He really LOVES him. Delights in him. Amazing! Here is something that came out of Finn's mouth the other night as he was trying to get out of eating his dinner:

"I can't eat this because it's genetically modified".

clever little man. he was wrong, but he knows just what to say to get our sympathy!

T. S.

I was inspired by my friend, Mel, to post some words about each of my boys.
I can't help but start with T after the day we had yesterday.

11:30 T falls backwards from a chair he's just climbed. Bumps his head and scrapes his back.

11:45 I nurse T to calm him. meanwhile....

11:50 The Pasadena police show up knocking on our door. Apparently while T had the phone a little while before climbing said chair, he called 911. Then he put the phone into the empty sink of his play kitchen.

12:30 We decide to go to Victory park to play.

12:40 T walks through the soccer field and sits down on a bee and is stung.

For those of you who know Jeremy's history....you'll quickly see that T takes after his daddy. I have a feeling there are many trips to the emergency room in my future.
Maybe I should go back to school for nursing just to be ready.

P.S. He's also taken a liking to dressing up in costumes! another Jeremy quality.
Finn never really got into costumes. It's a relief that T likes them, because I was actually considering trying for a "girl" just so that I could make costumes for her!
And, Yes. That is a picture of him with one of my bras on. He pulled it out of my drawer and put it on himself.

P.P.S. Finn, my little photographer, took the first picture.

Lompoc

We were able to get away together for a long weekend in Lompoc, CA. The time was truly restful. The pictures lack variety because we just hung out together mostly. We really didn't do much other than play in the sand digging really big bathtubs for the coming tide to fill. It was the best: no agenda, no house hunting, no work, no housework. The best part of it all was being able to give 100% of our attention to Finn and T. It was a beautiful 3 days. Hopefully we can integrate some of that kind of "being" now that we are home.

summer month no.2

Sophia

Our 12 year-old niece, Sophia, came to visit us last week! The boys were so excited to have her here. It's wonderful to see just how amazing of a young woman she is becoming. She was only 3 when she was the flower girl in our wedding! We are so proud of her. We went to Hollywood, Venice Beach and Manhattan Beach while she was with us. Lots and lots of fun!
