Jeremy and I woke up this morning to Finn standing at the side of Scout's crib singing "Happiness is Coming! Happiness is Coming! Happiness is Coming!!" It was one of the most beautiful sounds and sights I've ever seen. Nice way to wake up.

So this morning we woke up to rain and quickly got ready to walk to the poles. Finn proudly rode his bike all the way there. But first we had to stop by Starbucks for coffee (sorry Zephyr). We decided it wouldn't be too dishonest to claim our free "I voted" coffee on our way to vote. We enjoyed every sip in line outside the VW dealership. An exciting and historic day. We could just feel it in the spirits of the others waiting to cast their ballots; It's a pretty special privilege we share.

For Halloween this year, Scout had an identity crises. He has so many names, you know, so it was a draw between the punker Mr. T look, or the Tennessee look. You decide what fits him best? Finn originally wanted to be an airplane. I should have just broken down and attempted that one, because the pirate thing didn't quite work! I made the mistake of showing Finn some clips of Pirates of the Caribbean on YouTube. He got frightened and insisted on being a (in his words) 'happy pirate'. Hence the red polka-dotted eye patch. Back up a bit.....I FIRST made the mistake of starting his costume on Friday afternoon (on Halloween). Anyway, we went trick-or-treating with some friends in Sierra Madre on Canon Street which is a huge scary production. Maybe that's why Finn has woken up the past 2 nights screaming "Mommy!!" in his sleep. And he has started pretending to see monsters on the walls of our house. Maybe next year we'll just stick with the Harvest Festival!

Finally the weather feels like it should. kind of cloudy and a little cool.
